There are certain symptoms of Mountain Sickness, which can help one diagnose the problem so that due care is taken. The early signs of Mountain Sickness include are loss of appetite, headache and nausea. If it is a long travel to the hills, necessitating several night stays in the hills or mountains, a Mountain Sickness victim would suffer from insomnia. However, these symptoms are not so severe.

Symptoms of acute Mountain Sickness are vomiting, reasonless apathy, vomiting, breathlessness and staggering. In such cases the traveler should be made to descent. Since he/she may need health care during the climb-down, accompaniment is a must.

Choose your mystic destination carefully. If you are not trained well, do not go above 3000 meters. You should also take care not to climb more than 300 meters a day.

If you feel some physical problem or discomfort at a certain altitude, let you fellow travelers know about it. If possible, you can take rest for some time there. If the problem persists or increases, it would be wise to climb down, but do take someone with you.

During a mountaineering trip, a physician must always be there in your team. If problems occur even at not-so-high altitudes, a dose of simple analgesic would kick out the headache. Common sleeping pills can be given in case of insomnia. In case of severe problem, climb down with a company.
